Illustration and Painting Instructor
I have been drawing since I can remember and always had a passion for all things creative. I began by drawing as many faces I could find from my mom’s magazines. When I was around seven I became interested in fashion illustration and design as I learned what it was from my trendy mother who attended FIT. In my second year of undergrad at Virginia Wesleyan University, where I studied Fine Art and Biology, my career goals changed from fashion illustration to science illustration. I became more in tune with my love for living things and wanted to learn how I could make use of my artistic talent in the world of science and biology.
I am currently studying Traditional Illustration online at The Academy of Art University in San Fransisco where I will earn my Master’s of Fine Arts. I hope to narrow in my studies towards Natural Science Illustration, where I can pursue a career as a Free-lance illustrator. I’m not sure exactly what form of illustration I will fit into most, but I want to be known for creating illustrations from a perspective of environmental awareness. I began my time helping out at the studio during an externship in my final year at Virginia Wesleyan and quickly enjoyed networking with other amazing artist at the studio, while finding ways to get involved in the local art scene. Currently for the studio I make house visits to refine the gifted program applicant packets, as well as helping out with anywhere the studio needs me.
